Dayton Has Sole

DHS Event

On February 12, 2025, Dayton Has Sole, in partnership with Up and Running and sponsored by Five Rivers Health Centers, hosted an impactful event providing new, high-quality shoes to 40 individuals experiencing homelessness. Recognizing that those without stable housing often walk over 10 miles daily, access to durable footwear is essential for their health and well-being. This collaborative effort underscores our commitment to serving the community's most vulnerable members and exemplifies the power of community collaboration.

On Monday, Sept. 30, Dayton Has Sole partnered with Up & Running and the Daybreak Youth Shelter to give away 46 brand-new pairs of athletic shoes to teens and young adults experiencing homelessness or other housing vulnerability in the Dayton area. The giveaway was hosted at Daybreak, a long-standing emergency shelter (founded in 1975) for homeless youth that also offers transitional housing, outreach, and life-skills services. Many of the young adults receiving shoes are pursuing jobs that keep them on their feet for long hours in food service, retail, or warehouse work. Combined with the daily demands of using public transportation to reach work, school, and other essentials, reliable and supportive footwear becomes a critical need for maintaining comfort, mobility, and overall well-being.
